The difference between UK and US online bingo
US bingo rules: In America, 75 ball bingo is traditional. There are many more ways to win during a 75-ball bingo game! There are 5 lines to call, and each line has a prize, meaning 5! ways to win. With fewer balls in play than in its 80-ball and 90-ball counterparts, a game of 75-ball bingo often takes a shorter amount of time to complete. As well as these things, players also love 75-ball because the one line is so easy to nab, as the game allows you to claim on a vertical line, a horizontal line, a diagonal line and even 4 corners. This makes the first round of 75-ball bingo exceptionally nail biting and exciting! In New Zealand and Australia, a bingo game goes by the name of ‘Housie’.
UK bingo rules
UK plays bingo with 90 balls. The bingo card is called 'a ticket' in Britain. Tickets are arranged in 3 (horizontal) rows and 9 columns. Each row contains 5 boxes with a number and 4 'blanc' boxes. In total you have 3 rows x 9 columns = 27 boxes on a ticket. This bingo version will normally be played in 3 stages: 1 line, 2 lines and full house. In a "one line" game players need to mark a complete horizontal line across one card (i.e., 5 numbers marked). So, you have 3 odds for the same cash in each round. This is because there are 3 levels of winning:
• One line in a horizontal row;
• Two lines in a horizontal row and
• A 'full house' = BINGO! which means all numbers.
In the UK, Bingo tickets consist of 15 numbers randomly arranged in 17 boxes – 3 rows across and 9 columns down. There are 5 numbers in each row, totalling 15 per bingo ticket. The first column of 3 contains numbers 1-9; the second column 10-19, and so on until the 9th column of 80-90.
